Joe is sharing his success story at the CSF Gala April 21, 2006 Joe Russell is a Sophomore at the LaTourneau University majoring in Mechanical Engineering Technology. He is member of the his school’s Mini-Baja design team sponsored by the Society of Automotive Engineers. He survived Retinoblastoma. In his own words: "My career choice is to be an automotive engineer and someday work for a major auto maker. I lost my right eye to cancer at the age of two. I am very aware that I must be careful to wear eye protection in many situations, to preserve the vision of my left eye. My education is a big investment in my future and I need financial help to achieve my goals. I am committed to meeting this challenge with the same determination I have used with other challenges in my life. I will achieve my goals, and then, in turn, do what I can to help others to achieve theirs. It’s a big encouragement to have the financial and emotional support of Cancer Survivor Fund. It helps to turn something that was devastating into something that will help me achieve my goals and dreams. Thank you for believing in me.” |
