"What stands out about me is my ability
to handle most situations that life throws at me. Although I have cancer,
I never really think of it that way. I just have to go to a few more
doctor’s appointments a year than most people. Because I am the oldest
child of two deaf parents, I am more self-reliant and mature than many of
my peers. I have seen and experienced a bit of everything out there, and I
have more compassion for people with diseases, disabilities or hardships
simply because I witnessed what my parents endured. I love to help when I
can and brighten someone’s day; I hate feeling like I have no direction in
life. I am thankful to Cancer Survivors’ Fund for helping me maintain my
financial independence and making my dreams come true." |
